An
emerging generation of small UAVs (<8ft. wingspan) enables the
deployment of airborne sensor assets organically with forward
units. This provides a platform for sensors that can see "over
the next hill", extending capabilities for applications such as
mobile convoy protection and secure communications relay. To date,
reconnaissance capabilities have been limited to mostly image
capture; the Trident UAV FOPEN SAR (TUFSAR) payload can expand
surveillance for operation in smoke/fog/darkness, providing an
affordable and versatile all-weather, foliage penetrating radar
solution that can be applied to a variety of small UAV

Robust, Affordable Solution
The TUFSAR
provides detection of vehicles and structures obscured by
foliage in all weather conditions possible using small UAVs.
The payload weight (<10 lbs with integrated antenna), along
with unprecedented cost reductions, for the first time
provides radar resolution capabilities to be used with
"disposable" unmanned aircraft.

Military Information Assurance
The TUFSAR
is easy to use and manage with minimal training via
GUI-based control station. Radar information is easily
viewed and transmitted to efficiently manage and operate the
FOPEN SAR.
