InterchangeSE – The Power to Integrate, Coordinate,
Manage and Collaborate |
|
The design and
development of complex systems requires tools and techniques
that can be applied throughout the system lifecycle. The
problem isn’t that the tools aren’t available to support these
efforts; it is that the tools, processes and data are not
integrated to give a complete picture to support the full system
lifecycle.
InterchangeSE
is a software framework for systems engineering data integration
that addresses this particular problem. It enables the
integration of tools and the implementation of processes into an
integrated data model for total life-cycle engineering and
management of complex systems.
InterchangeSE
is currently being used in a variety of applications including:
|
 |
- Integration,
verification and validation of DoDAF architecture products.
InterchangeSE integrates
the various DoDAF products and ensures that they are consistent
across domains; comply with DoD, Joint and Service level
requirements, guidance and directives; and creates reports in
required formats.
- Technology
Development and Insertion Management
InterchangeSE integrates
and manages the technical, cost, schedule and risk elements of
technology development programs. Changes to any of these
elements are traced and analyzed for impacts and notifications
are sent to appropriate users.
- Requirements
and Systems Engineering Support
InterchangeSE enables the
integration of requirements, high level architectures and
implementation models to support a single integrated picture.
This includes the reuse of architecture products, use of
authoritative data sources and the development of a
collaborative engineering environment. |
 |
Integrated
Data Model
InterchangeSE
has a common integrated data repository in which data is
viewed and analyzed, monitored and reported. It is this
repository that integrates the data across the lifecycle and
from the various domains. Requirements, system functions,
design data, human factors, costs, logistics support and
management data are all integrated in a common model that is
based on the GEIA STD-927 Common Data Schema for Complex
Systems and supports EIA-748A Earned Value Management.

Model
Metadata
The model
metadata extends of the DOD Discovery Metadata Specification
(DDMS), which allows InterchangeSE to leverage
the Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES).
Graphical and
Web-Based Interfaces
InterchangeSE
provides a set of graphic tools that allow users to view the
integrated data developed from the tools and data sources
across multiple domains. A rich, intuitive, fully featured
user interface provides detailed access to large complex
data sets. A comprehensive web-based interface provides the
widest available access by geographically distributed teams.
InterchangeSE provides an unparalleled degree of
understanding for engineering large complex systems. |
